Devotional Topic: "SEEDS OF FAITH"

Verse of the Day: 1 Peter 3:15

Devotional Message:
(1 Peter 3:15)
"Always be prepared to give an answer...for the hope that you have."

Observation:
Have you ever watched a farmer at work? They spend hours in the fields carefully planting seeds. They know that even though the results don’t come right away, in time, those seeds will grow into something beautiful and fruitful. The same is true in our spiritual lives. God calls us to be like farmers, planting seeds of faith in the hearts of people around us.

1 Peter 3:15 reminds us that as believers, we should live in such a way that others notice something different about us. Peter tells us to be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks why we have hope. In other words, people will ask questions when they see a life that stands out. It is not always about preaching a sermon but about living a life that shows we belong to Jesus.

Think about this: when the world around us is full of negativity, fear, and discouragement, but we show peace, joy, and kindness, it gets people’s attention. They may wonder, "Why do you stay hopeful when things fall apart?" or "How can you forgive someone who wronged you?" or "Why are you so calm when life is so difficult?" These questions are signs that the seeds we’ve been planting are starting to take root.

Peter is not asking us to have all the answers or to become experts in theology. He is simply encouraging us to be ready to share the story of what Jesus has done in our lives. That is the reason for our hope. We might say something like, “I have hope because Jesus forgave me and gave me a new life.” or “I can face challenges because I trust God’s plan for me.” Our testimony doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be honest and real.

Peter also points out that when we share, we must do so with gentleness and respect. We are not trying to win arguments or force people to believe what we believe. We are showing them the love of Christ through our words and actions. Gentleness means we speak calmly and kindly. Respect means we listen to others and value them even if they don’t agree with us right away. When we do this, people are more open to hear the message of hope we have.

Living this way is like planting seeds every day. You may not see results right away, but trust that God is working in people’s hearts. It may take time, but those seeds can grow into faith one day.


Application:
So, how can we practically live out this message and be ready to plant seeds of faith every day? Here are some simple, clear steps to follow:

1. Revere Christ in Your Heart

Make Jesus the center of your life. Spend time in prayer, reading His Word, and asking Him to guide your actions and words. When Christ our Lord is in our hearts, His hope will naturally overflow into everything we do.



2. Live Differently

Let your life show the hope you have. Be joyful, patient, forgiving, and kind even when life is hard. Your actions speak loudly, and they plant seeds even when you don’t say a word.



3. Know Your Story

Take time to think about what Jesus has done in your life. How has He given you hope? Write it down in simple words. Be ready to share your personal testimony when someone asks why you live the way you do.



4. Be Ready to Speak

You don’t have to know everything, but you can share what you believe and why you believe it. Practice saying it simply: “I have hope because Jesus loves me and helps me every day.”



5. Speak with Gentleness and Respect

Always remember to share your faith with kindness. Listen to others. Don’t argue or pressure them. Instead, trust that God will work in their hearts as you speak gently and lovingly.



6. Trust God for the Growth

Remember that your job is to plant and water the seeds. God is the one who makes them grow. Be patient. Even if you don’t see immediate results, trust that God is at work in ways you cannot see.



7. Pray for Opportunities

Each day, ask God to give you opportunities to share your hope and to give you the courage and the right words when the moment comes.

Prayer:
Lord, help us to live lives that plant seeds of faith in the hearts of those around us. Give us the courage to share the hope we have in You, and teach us to speak with gentleness and respect. May our actions and words show Your love and truth every day. Amen.
