30 Years of Praying Together: Remembering the Persecuted Church | Rev. Dr. Jack Sara
For 30 years, the global Church has united in prayer for persecuted believers around the world.
The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) began in 1994 as an emergency call to prayer for Iran following the murder of Bishop Haik Hovsepian Mehr. The response was so significant that in 1996, the World Evangelical Alliance (then the World Evangelical Fellowship) called the whole Church to a day of prayer for persecuted Christians. More than 100 countries participated in the first year.

Persecuted believers often say that one of their greatest fears is being forgotten. Three decades later, the global Church continues to stand with them in prayer, solidarity, and remembrance.
In this message, Rev. Dr. Jack Sara, General Secretary of the Middle East and North Africa Evangelical Alliance, reflects on 30 years of praying together and the enduring call to remember our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.
