WEA & WCC encourage Mozambique to implement human rights commitments in consultation with FBOs

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC), also representing the Evangelical Association of Mozambique and Open Doors International, encouraged the Government of Mozambique to implement the accepted recommendations on preventing and responding to
violent extremism and radicalization, conflict-related sexual violence, and strengthening impartial humanitarian assistance for internally displaced persons, in close consultation with affected communities and faith-based organizations. The joint statement also welcomed the government's steps proposed to further protect freedom of religion or belief.

The joint oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 63rd session, during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of Mozambique, on 25 September 2026.
