“Costly Discipleship” (Luke 14:25-33) Pastor AJ Caparros July 23, 2023 Sunday Service
Consumerism has invaded the church for a long time. Many attendees in church services passively consume church music and the preacher’s message every Sunday, but they aren’t actively living for Christ in any other day. Some don’t even dedicate the whole Sunday to Christ, but only 2 hours. Christ is not in the picture during the rest of Sunday. And even in the 2 hours that they set aside, they are not fully focused on Christ as their minds wander off into the temporary and fleeting cares of life. Does this kind of a life reflect biblical Christianity?

What kind of discipleship are you living? The cheap kind of discipleship (which is not really discipleship at all)? Or the costly discipleship, the true biblical discipleship? The kind of discipleship that hurts. The kind of discipleship that sacrifices. The kind of discipleship that gives up all that you love, all that you are, all that you have and all that you treasure.
