Devotional Message:
(Luke 5:19)
"They went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat...right in front of Jesus."

Observation:

This verse is part of a powerful story about four men who carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus. They knew that Jesus had the power to heal him, but when they arrived at the house where Jesus was teaching, they encountered a problem—there was no way to get inside. The crowd was too big, and the entrance was completely blocked.

Many people would have given up at this point. They could have told their friend, “Maybe another day,” or, “It’s too difficult.” But these men had a different mindset. They refused to let the obstacle stop them. Their love for their friend and their faith in Jesus pushed them to find another way.

Instead of turning back, they climbed to the roof. Imagine the effort it took to carry a full-grown man up there. It wasn’t easy. Then, they started breaking through the roof—not caring what people would think or how much trouble it might cause. They did whatever it took to get their friend to Jesus.

And Jesus noticed. The Bible says that He saw their faith—not just the faith of the paralyzed man, but the faith of his friends. Because of their determination, their friend received not only physical healing but also forgiveness.

Application:

This story teaches us an important lesson: sometimes, people around us are too weak to reach Jesus on their own. Life’s struggles have drained them. Maybe they are physically sick, emotionally broken, or spiritually lost. They may be so discouraged that they don’t have the strength to pray, seek God, or even believe anymore.

That’s when we need to step in and carry them—just like these four men did.

How can we carry others to Jesus?

1. Through Prayer – When someone is struggling, we can intercede for them. Just as these men carried their friend to Jesus physically, we can carry people
