Devotional Message:
(Proverbs 4:23)
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

Observation:
Our heart is more than just the part of our body that pumps blood. In the Bible, when it talks about the heart, it often means our thoughts, feelings, and the choices we make. It is where our desires live. It is where we decide what is right and wrong. It is where we store everything we hear, see, and experience. That is why Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart above all else—because everything we do starts from what is inside it.

Think about a garden. If you want your plants to grow well, you protect the garden. You remove weeds, you water the plants, and you keep animals or insects away that might destroy it. If you leave your garden unprotected, weeds will take over, and your plants will die. The same is true with our heart. If we allow bad things to enter, like negative thoughts, anger, or wrong influences, it will slowly destroy the good that God wants to grow in us. But if we fill our heart with good things, like God’s Word, prayer, and kindness, we will see good fruits in our life—like joy, peace, and love.

Every day, our heart is like a gate. We decide what comes in and what stays out. The things we watch, the music we listen to, the friends we spend time with—all of these can either help our heart grow in goodness or fill it with things that can hurt us later. Sometimes, we think that small bad habits do not matter. Maybe we gossip a little, lie sometimes, or watch things that we know are not pleasing to God. But these small things slowly grow and affect our heart. Soon, we may find it harder to be patient, kind, or honest.

Also, the problems we face in life can hurt our hearts. Maybe someone hurt you with their words, or you lost someone you love. These pains can fill our hearts with sadness, anger, or bitterness. If we are not
