Devotional Message:
(Philippians 2:8)
"He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death–even death on a cross!"

Observation:

Humility is one of the most powerful yet difficult qualities to practice. Many people think that humility means being weak, quiet, or unimportant. But in reality, humility is one of the strongest qualities a person can have. It means choosing to lower ourselves, not because we have no value, but because we trust that God is the One who lifts us up.

Jesus is the greatest example of humility. He is the Son of God, the Creator of the universe, yet He chose to come to earth as a man. He could have been born into a rich family, in a palace, with servants taking care of Him. Instead, He was born in a simple manger, to humble parents. Throughout His life, He did not seek fame or recognition. He did not demand respect or special treatment. He served others, healed the sick, fed the hungry, and forgave sinners. He even washed the feet of His disciples, a task that was usually done by servants.

But the greatest act of humility was when Jesus obeyed God completely, even when it meant suffering and dying on the cross. He could have used His power to escape pain and death. He could have called angels to rescue Him. But He didn’t. He chose to humble Himself and die for our sins so that we could be saved. That is true humility—putting others before ourselves, even when it costs us something.

Unfortunately, many people today think that being humble is foolish. Society teaches us to be competitive, to always be the best, to seek recognition, and to prove that we are important. But Jesus teaches the opposite. He says, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12)

If we truly want to follow Jesus, we must learn to live humbly. It is not always easy, but it is the right path—the path of obedience, love, and
