Devotional Message:
(Acts 9:39)
"All the widows stood around [Peter], crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas has made."

Observation

In this passage, we see a woman named Dorcas (also called Tabitha). She was known for doing good and helping the poor. When she died, the people who loved her were heartbroken. They gathered around Peter, showing him the clothes she had made for them.

Widows holding up the garments with tears in their eyes, remembering the kindness of Dorcas. It wasn’t just about what she gave them physically, but about the way she made them feel valued and cared for. Dorcas didn't just see people’s needs; she acted on them. She used her skills, time, and resources to serve others.

When Peter arrived, he saw firsthand how much of an impact one person’s kindness could have on a whole community. Dorcas’ acts of love had built strong relationships.

Dorcas was brought back to life by Peter through God’s power, as recorded in Acts 9:40. She had died, but Peter prayed, and she was miraculously restored.

Application

Many times, we go through life focused on our own problems, schedules, and struggles. It’s easy to get caught up in our own world and miss the needs of those around us. But if we open our eyes, we will see that there are people who need encouragement, support, and kindness.

Think about the people in your life. Maybe there’s a co-worker who seems stressed, a neighbor who lives alone, or a friend who is going through a hard time. Sometimes, all it takes is a small act of kindness to make a big difference.

You don’t need to be rich or powerful to help others. Dorcas wasn’t famous or wealthy, but she used what she had to serve. If you can sew, like Dorcas, maybe you can make clothes or blankets for those in need. If you love to cook, you can prepare a meal for a struggling family. If you have extra time, you can visit someone who
