(Lamentations 3:22-23)
"Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Observation
Imagine your phone or computer freezing, slowing down, or getting overwhelmed by too many tasks running at once. What do you do? You restart it. A reboot helps clear out unnecessary processes, refresh the system, and make it work smoothly again.
Life can feel like that sometimes. We make mistakes, we carry burdens from yesterday, and sometimes, we feel like we are running on empty. Maybe yesterday was filled with failures, disappointments, or sins that made you feel distant from God. But here’s the good news: God’s grace has a built-in reboot system.
Lamentations was written during a dark time in Israel’s history. The people were suffering, Jerusalem was in ruins, and many felt hopeless. But in the middle of this sorrow, the writer found a powerful truth—God’s love and mercy never run out. Every single morning, He offers us a fresh start.
God doesn’t hold yesterday’s failures against us. His compassion is not limited. He doesn’t say, “You’ve used up all your chances.” Instead, He gives us new mercies every day. No matter how much we’ve struggled, no matter how heavy our hearts feel, every sunrise is a reminder that God is still faithful.
Application
So how do we live in this reality?
1. Let Go of Yesterday – Stop carrying yesterday’s burdens into today. If you’ve sinned, confess it to God and receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9). If you’ve failed, trust that God’s mercies are new, and He still has a purpose for you.
2. Start Each Day with God – Just as we need a reboot to refresh our devices, we need to refresh our hearts with God’s presence. Spend time in prayer, read His Word, and remind yourself of His faithfulness.
3. Give Grace to Yourself and Others – If God renews His mercies every morning, we should learn to do the same. Don’t dwell on past mistakes, and don’t be too hard on yourself. Also, extend grace to others, just as God extends grace to you.
4. Trust in God’s Faithfulness – Life is unpredictable, and struggles will come. But when we remember that God’s compassion never fails, we can have peace even in the midst of difficulties. He is always faithful, and His love never wavers.
Every morning is an opportunity to reset. No matter what happened yesterday, today is a new day filled with God’s grace. His mercies are not just available—they are guaranteed. All we need to do is receive them.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your unending love and mercy. Help us to let go of yesterday’s burdens and embrace the fresh grace You provide each day. Teach us to trust in Your faithfulness and to live with renewed hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.
