Daily Bread Devotional:
Devotional Topic: From Blindness to Sight: The Power of Personal Transformation
READ: John 9:18-38

Verse of the Day: John 9:25

Devotional Message:
(John 9:25)
"He replied, 'Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!'"

Observation:

Here, the man who was healed by Jesus isn’t a scholar or theologian. He’s just a regular person, trying to make sense of this incredible miracle in his life. The religious leaders are questioning him, trying to pull apart his story, even doubting the person who healed him. But he responds with complete simplicity and honesty. He doesn’t claim to know everything, nor does he argue back. Instead, he just shares his experience, his truth: he was once blind, but now he sees.

This man's testimony speaks to a powerful truth: personal transformation speaks louder than any argument or debate. He didn’t need to understand all the mysteries of faith; he only needed to tell others about what Jesus did for him. He was blind—physically and likely spiritually too—but his encounter with Jesus changed everything. His world, his perspective, and his heart were opened in ways they’d never been before.

Application:

This verse challenges us to think about our own journeys. Maybe you don’t have all the answers to life’s big questions. Maybe you’re still figuring out your beliefs or dealing with challenges that make you wonder about God’s plans for you. But, like the man in this story, you can hold onto the moments when God has worked in your life.

Maybe you’ve experienced forgiveness after carrying guilt for years. Maybe you’ve seen God’s hand in restoring a broken relationship or in providing for you when times were tough. These are moments of transformation, times when we, too, can say, “I was blind, but now I see.”

What’s beautiful here is that you don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t need a degree in theology or all the answers to people’s questions about faith. You simply need to be honest about what God has done in your life. Our personal encounters with God, however simple, are often the most powerful things we can share.

God calls us to share our transformation stories with others. When we do, we show people that God is real and still active in this world. By sharing our “I was blind, but now I see” moments, we’re giving hope and encouragement to others who may still be searching for their own moments of transformation.

So today, think about what God has done in your life. Reflect on how you’ve changed, how you’ve grown, and where you can say, “I was blind, but now I see.” Don’t be afraid to share that testimony with others, even if it’s just a simple story. Remember, our transformation is often the greatest evidence of God’s power and love.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for the moments in our lives where You have brought light to our darkness. Help us to remember that we don’t need to have all the answers, but only a heart willing to share the transformation You’ve made in us. Give us courage to share our testimonies so others may see Your goodness. Amen.
