WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY TO INNTERPRET THE BILE?
.
Several newly sprouting sects are teaching that the Bible is the final authority. They said that what is written in the Bible is sufficient, and it does no longer needs to be interpreted. That's the concept of the Bible Alone doctrine. But they are very funny because every time when pastors or ministers read the bible, but after reading they had to explained it to their members. Doesn't it seem like they have already violated their doctrine? Bible Alone but pastors and ministers had to explain their interpretations of what they have read from the bible. If the Bible is really the final authority, then they shouldn't explain what is written, since it will only be mixed with the opinions from pastors and ministers.

Protestant sects say that we should just read the bible and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit so that we can understand what we've read in the bible. But the question is: Doesn't these thousands of sects today also read the bible and all of them were asking for guidance from the holy spirit so that they could understand what they've read? But why is their interpretations or understandings are different from each others? How many holy spirits had guided them? Thousands of thousands too?

That is the proof that private interpretation is wrong. Because the bible had said that private interpretation is prohibited according to 2 Peter 1:20. For example, in the Bible in Acts 8:26-40, there was a certain man who read the book of Isaiah, but he did not understand it, so someone had helped him to understand what he read. Hence, Bible Alone is not enough because somebody have to explain what is written in the Bible.

It's just like our laws, anyone can read what is stated in the law. Lawyers have their own interpretations of those laws, but the final interpreter is the Supreme Court. This is the same as the bible, it cannot be the final authority and anyone cannot just interpret it without the guidance from the authority. Who has the authority to interpret the Bible? That is none other than the Church, through the Church magesterium. Because the pillar and foundation of truth is the Church, not the Bible. That's why Christ said in Matt. 18:18 that whoever commits a sin should refer it to the Church, it did not say refer it to the Bible. Christ entrusted his teachings to the Church, not to the Bible. Because Christ did not leave any Bible, what he left before he ascended to heaven was the Church. He did not say, "I will leave this bible with you. All the things I taught are all written in that book." Nothing like that!

I repeat, if the Constitution or laws, the only authority that can interpret it is the Supreme Court. In the same manner, the only one who has the authority to interpret the Bible is the Church.

In fact, when there was a conflict between Jewish and Gentile Christians in the early days of Christianity, it was the Church that convened to make a decision. It was not the bible that made the decision. We can read that in the Book of Acts 15, the so-called Council of Jerusalem. Through the Church Authority the controversy was settled. Another example, when there were heretical groups that did not believe that Christ was God, they were the Arians, the bishops met there at the Council of Nicea in 325AD to make a decision. And that controversy was settled because of the authority of the Church, not the authority of the Bible. Because there was no complete bible at that time yet.

I repeat, the private interpretation made by non-Catholic sects is wrong. Because it only causes the emergence of various sects and cults. According to a Philosopher and Catholic Convert named Peter Kreeft: "Let 500 people read the Bible (without the guidance of the church), and soon you will find another 500 sects or cults".
