In Acts 25, the religious leaders were eager to kill Paul and even tricked the new governor, Festus, into sending him to Jerusalem to ambush him. However, their evil plans failed as Paul remained detained in Caesarea, where he appealed to the Roman leaders, asserting his innocence against the false charges brought by the Jews.
