The Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific
The Jesuits have been in Asia since the earliest history of the Society of Jesus. More than 450 years ago, in 1542, Francis Xavier, one of the founding members of the Society, landed in Goa, opening new ways of access to bring the Gospel to the world and preparing the way for future Jesuits.
Today, the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) covers Jesuit life and service in 16 countries: Australia, Cambodia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. We are joined in our mission by laymen and women, both friends and colleagues, who work with us in a wide range of apostolic ministries.

Seeing all things new in Christ, we want to walk in a journey of conversion and synodality. Committing ourselves to the urgent call of poverty and reconciliation with creation in Asia Pacific. We see an urgent need to discern the most vulnerable peoples in our locality and find ways of engaging with them, listening to them, learning from them, accompanying them more closely, advocating with them, and witnessing to a more inclusive world - all for the greater glory to God.
