Daily Bread Devotional:
Devotional Topic: THE REST OF OUR STORY

Verse of the Day: Revelation 5:5

Devotional Message:
(Revelation 5:5)
"Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David...has triumphed."

Observation:
The scene in Revelation 5 is one of the most powerful moments in the Bible. John, the writer, is weeping because no one is found worthy to open the scroll that contains the rest of God’s plan for the world. The scroll represents God’s purposes, promises, and final victory over evil. It’s as if the story of humanity is stuck, incomplete, without anyone able to move it forward.

But then, one of the elders speaks words of hope: “Do not weep!” The Lion of the tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ, has triumphed. He is worthy. He alone can open the scroll and unfold God’s plans. This verse reminds us that Jesus is not just a part of our story—He is the one who holds the entire story together. Through His victory on the cross, He overcame sin, death, and every force of darkness. He ensures that no matter how broken or uncertain our present feels, the rest of our story is secure in His hands.

Application:
We often find ourselves weeping like John. Life can feel overwhelming, filled with unanswered questions, unfinished goals, and unresolved struggles. There are moments when we feel stuck, wondering what the next chapter of our life will look like. But this verse encourages us to look to Jesus, the Lion of Judah.

Think about this: every story has highs and lows, twists and turns. But the ending of our story is already written, and it’s a victorious one because Jesus has triumphed. When we surrender our lives to Him, we are part of a bigger story—a story where evil does not win, where pain does not have the final word, and where love and hope prevail.

So, what does this mean for us today? It means we don’t have to carry the weight of figuring everything out on our own. Are you struggling with a decision? Trust Jesus to guide you. Are you weighed down by fear or failure? Remember that Jesus has already overcome for you.

This also challenges us to live with hope and purpose. If the ending of our story is secure, we can face life’s uncertainties with courage. Instead of being paralyzed by fear, we can take steps of faith. Instead of focusing on what we can’t control, we can focus on living each day for God’s glory, knowing that Jesus is writing a beautiful story out of our lives.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Lion of Judah who has triumphed and secured the rest of our story. Help us trust You when life feels uncertain and overwhelming. Give us the courage to live with hope and faith, knowing that You hold the future. In Your mighty name, we pray, Amen.
