Today's Devotion:

365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿป Concept: Primary Cause
The primary cause refers to God as the divine, invisible, and ultimate cause behind everything that happens. This concept affirms Godโ€™s sovereignty in all eventsโ€”nothing is random or outside His control. Though He often works through secondary causes (like people, nature, or circumstances), God remains the One who directs all things according to His wise and holy will. This truth doesnโ€™t make us robotsโ€”it gives us confidence that history and our lives are not in the hands of chance, but in the hands of a faithful God who works all things together for His glory and our good.

๐Ÿ“– Bible Readings: Genesis 50:20
(Proverbs 16:9; Romans 11:36; Isaiah 46:9โ€“10; Ephesians 1:11; Genesis 50:20; Acts 2:23, 4:27-28; Daniel 4:35)

๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ป Teachings:
1. God is the primary cause of all things.
2. God does not play dice or a game of chance.
3. God uses evil, sufferingโ€”even deathโ€”for His purpose.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ Applications:
1. Rest in Godโ€™s controlโ€”nothing happens outside His plan.
2. Rely in Godโ€™s wisdomโ€”even when life feels uncertain.
3. Respond with worshipโ€”God is working all things for His glory.

๐ŸŽ™Discussion:
How does knowing that God uses evil, suffering, and even death to accomplish His purpose strengthen our faith?

Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Prayer:
Sovereign God, thank You that nothing in my life happens by accident. You are the primary cause behind all things, directing history and my story with perfect wisdom. Help me to rest in Your providence when I face things I donโ€™t understand. Keep me from fear and help me trust Your hand even when I canโ€™t see it. Remind me that You are always working for Your glory and for the good of those who love You. May I walk by faith, knowing You are in control. In Jesusโ€™ name I pray. Amen.
