Today's Devotion:

365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition

💁🏻 Concept: Prophecy Of Jesus Christ
Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 24 primarily concerns the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 as God’s covenantal judgment on Israel. The “great tribulation” and “this generation” refer to first-century events, not the end of the world. While most of the Olivet Discourse was fulfilled then, some elements — like the final return of Christ and bodily resurrection — remain future.

📖 Bible Readings: Matthew 24:34
(Matthew chapters 23-24; Book of Revelation; 2 Timothy 3:1-8)

👨🏻‍💻 Teachings:
The prophecy of Jesus:
1. It was meant to judge his enemies.
2. It was fulfilled in the first century.
3. It was interpreted accurately by the early church.

💪🏼 Applications:
1. Study the Bible without theological bias.
2. Know that the Bible does not teach pessimism.
3. Take Jesus at His word without distortion.

🎙Discussion:
What is the difference between believing that the world is getting worse and worse because of evil and the world is getting better and better because of the victory of the gospel?

Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?

🙏🏼 Prayer:
Father God, thank You for the prophecy of Jesus Christ that proves He is a true prophet. Everything He said that would happen in that generation was fulfilled down to the very detail. Thank You for the comfort that there is nothing in the Bible that teaches the world is getting worse and worse but rather the world is healing because of the growing Kingdom of God here on earth. Please make me one of Your missionaries who will advance the Great Commission of Jesus. Use me to share the gospel to the people around me. In Jesus’ name, amen!
