Devotional Topic: A World Without Tears
Revelation 20:7-21:8
Verse of the Day: Revelation 21:4
Devotional Message:
(Revelation 21:4)
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Observation:
Revelation 21:4 gives us a glimpse of God’s beautiful promise for the future—a world where pain, sorrow, and death will no longer exist. Imagine this: every tear we have ever cried will be wiped away by the loving hand of God Himself. This verse speaks of a time when the old, broken world we live in, full of suffering and disappointment, will be replaced by something completely new. The pain of losing a loved one, the sadness of failed dreams, and the struggles of everyday life will be gone forever. God is not only ending these things but also tenderly comforting His people. This shows His deep love and care for us, His children.
Right now, we live in a world where grief and pain are part of life. Many of us have experienced heartbreak—whether through illness, failure, or the loss of someone dear. But this verse assures us that these struggles are temporary. They are not part of the eternal plan that God has prepared for His people. The old order of things—marked by sin, death, and suffering—will be replaced with God’s perfect kingdom. This promise fills us with hope because it reminds us that God sees our tears and will one day take them away completely.
Application:
How do we live in light of this promise? First, we hold on to hope. Life may feel overwhelming at times, but we need to remember that our pain will not last forever. Whenever we face difficulties, we can look forward to the day when God will make everything new. This can give us strength to endure and keep going, even when life feels heavy.
Second, we can live with compassion for others. Since we know how painful this life can be, we are called to be God’s hands and feet to those around us who are hurting. We can be the ones to wipe away tears today, comforting others with kindness, prayers, and encouragement.
Lastly, we need to deepen our relationship with God. The promise of Revelation 21:4 is for those who belong to Him. If we haven’t already, this is the time to turn to God, trust in His Son Jesus, and live a life that honors Him. Building this relationship helps us experience His comfort now and assures us of the eternal hope to come.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of a world without pain, sorrow, or death. Help us to hold on to this hope when life feels difficult and overwhelming. Teach us to comfort others as You comfort us, and guide us to live each day in close relationship with You. We trust in Your love and eagerly look forward to the day when You will make everything new. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
