365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition
💁🏻 Concept: Baptism in the Holy Spirit
A phrase the New Testament authors use to speak of coming into the new covenant power of the Holy Spirit. This would include the impartation of new spiritual life (in regeneration), cleansing from sin, a break with the ruling power and love of sin, and some empowering for ministry.
📖 Bible Readings: 1 Corinthians 12:13
(Matthew 3:11; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 12:11, 6:19; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Romans 6:3-5, 8:9; Galatians 3:27, 4:6; Ephesians 3:16-17; John 3:5-6; Titus 3:5; Romans 6:6-7, 8:2, 13; Ezekiel 36:27)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit:
1. It is the indwelling presence of God.
2. It is a bondage-breaking moment.
3. It is the Spirit’s enablement to live the life of Christ.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Ask God to break the bondage of sin in your life.
2. Believe that the Spirit’s indwelling is permanent.
3. Carry the life of Christ by the enablement of the Spirit.
🎙Discussion:
How does the Spirit’s indwelling enable us to live the life of Christ?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, it amazes me that Your Spirit lives in me. How could a Holy God lives in a sinner like me? Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I rejoice in Your presence that dwells within me, breaking every bondage and setting me free from a sinful lifestyle. Forgive me for times when I have relied on my own strength. Help me to repent daily and walk in obedience to You. I believe Your Spirit is in me, with me, and works through me. Teach me to depend on Your Spirit for guidance and power in every moment. I trust the empowerment of the Spirit to enable me to live a victorious Christian life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
