Today's Devotion:
365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition
💁🏻 Concept: New Covenant
The New Covenant is God’s promise to save His people through Jesus Christ. Unlike the old covenant of laws, the New Covenant gives us new hearts, forgives our sins, and helps us obey God through the Holy Spirit. It is the better covenant—sealed in His blood—where the Holy Spirit is given to believers to transform hearts and empower holy living. Through this covenant, we enjoy restored fellowship with God and the inward ability to live righteously, not out of obligation, but from a heart made new.
📖 Bible Readings: Jeremiah 31:31–34
(Ezekiel 36:26; Luke 22:20; Hebrews 8:6–13; Romans 8:3–4; 2 Corinthians 3:6)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
1. The Old Covenant is God’s law written on tablets.
2. The New Covenant is written on the human hearts.
3. The Holy Spirit enables believers to obey God.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Look to Jesus—His grace and finished work.
2. Listen to the Holy Spirit for daily obedience.
3. Live a holy life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
🎙Discussion:
How can you practically depend on the Holy Spirit to live a life of obedience?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Gracious God, thank You for establishing the New Covenant through Jesus Christ. I am humbled that, by His blood, all my sins are forgiven and I now stand accepted before You. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to dwell in me and lead me into truth and obedience. Help me not to strive in my own strength, but to walk in the freedom and power that comes from Your Spirit. Make my life a reflection of the grace You’ve poured out so generously through Christ. I praise You for this better covenant that brings life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
