Today's Devotion:
365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition
💁🏻 Concept: Omniscience
Omniscience is the doctrine that God fully knows Himself and all things—both actual and possible—in one simple and eternal act. This means God never learns, forgets, or discovers anything. His knowledge is infinite, immediate, and perfect. He knows the past, present, and future without limitation. He sees the end from the beginning and understands every thought, motive, and outcome. This should humble us, comfort us, and lead us to worship. God is never surprised, never caught off guard. His knowledge serves His wisdom, and His wisdom serves His perfect will.
📖 Bible Readings: Hebrews 4:13
(Job 37:16; Isaiah 40:13-14; Isaiah 46:9-10; Matthew 10:29-30; Romans 11:33-36; Hebrews 4:13)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
1. God’s knowledge is complete and perfect.
2. God knows even the secret places of our hearts.
3. God’s omniscience is a source of comfort.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Confess your sins because nothing is hidden.
2. Trust God’s plan, for He sees what you cannot.
3. Believe that you are fully known and still fully loved.
🎙Discussion:
How does the omniscience of God give us comfort?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
All-knowing God, You see every part of me—my thoughts, my fears, my sins, and my dreams. You know me better than I know myself. Thank You for loving me despite what You know. Help me walk in the light of Your truth. Keep me from hiding, pretending, or fearing the unknown. Your wisdom is far above mine, and Your plans are always good. Teach me to rest in Your perfect knowledge, even when I don’t understand what You’re doing. May Your omniscience deepen my trust and shape my obedience. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
