Today's Devotion:

365 Daily Devotions: Seminary Edition

💁🏻 Concept: Pentecost
Pentecost was a Jewish feast celebrated fifty days after Passover, originally marking the firstfruits of the harvest. But following the ascension of Jesus, Pentecost became the day the Holy Spirit was poured out in new covenant fullness and power on the disciples (Acts 2). This event marked a dramatic turning point in redemptive history—transitioning from the old covenant work of the Spirit to His new covenant ministry. Pentecost was the Spirit’s empowering of the church for witness, mission, and transformation. What was once promised was now fulfilled—God dwelling with His people, not just among them.

1. Passover Feast - Death of Jesus
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread - Burial of Jesus
3. Feast of Firstfruits - Resurrection of Jesus
4. Pentecost - The giving of the Spirit

📖 Bible Readings: Acts 2:1-4
(Ezekiel 9-11; John 14:16-17; Joel 2:28-29; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-11; Galatians 5:22-25; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19-20; Ephesians 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:5; Revelation 21:22)

👨🏻‍💻 Teachings:
Why Pentecost?
1. Firstfruits - A harvest of the nations.
2. Law - God’s Spirit written in our hearts.
3. Temple - The church is God’s dwelling place.

💪🏼 Applications:

2. Devote your heart to loving God.
3. Join in the harvest of the nations.

🎙Discussion:
How does the Pentecost help us understand how the Holy Spirit works in believers today?

🙏🏼 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the day of Pentecost, when You poured out Your Spirit as the firstfruits of a great harvest, fulfilled the promise of making us Your living temple—Your very dwelling place. Thank You for making me part of this harvest among the nations. Fill me daily with Your Spirit, that I may live a clean life as Your spiritual house, devoted to loving You with all my heart. Empower me to join in the work of proclaiming the gospel to the nations. Let Your Spirit lead me in holiness, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
