While I am still at it, allow me to share the story behind my second song at Malacañang's "Konsyerto Sa Palasyo": "Pag-Uwi." This evocative piece, composed by the brilliant Louie Ocampo and Joey Ayala, was originally brought to life by the iconic Martin Nievera. "Pag-Uwi" isn't just a song; it's a testament to the Filipino spirit. It captured the grand prize at the 2001 Metropop, broadcast live on GMA 7, solidifying the legacies of Maestro Louie Ocampo, Mr. Joey Ayala, and OPM icon, Mr. Martin Nievera. (I even recall reading a fearless forecast by the late Ricky Lo in the Philippine Star, predicting its victory!) The song carries a powerful message of hope, homecoming, and the sacrifices made by every Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). It speaks of the longing for family, the dream of returning home after a long contract, and the unwavering love that fuels our dedication.
