WEA calls on Sri Lanka to repeal circulars on registration of places of worship

The World Evangelical Alliance called on Sri Lanka to repeal circulars on registration of places of worship and to comply with constitutional protections of freedom of religion or belief, as well as to ensure that local elections are conducted without delay.

The oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 53rd session, during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of Sri Lanka, on 10 July 2023.
