♦971 AD. On the Danube, the Eastern Roman Empire and the Kievan Rus face each other in a siege that will decide who controls the Balkans.

It began with a bribe. Emperor Nikephoros II Phokas paid Sviatoslav to attack Bulgaria. The plan worked too well. Bulgaria fell, the Rus prince decided to stay, and his army turned toward Constantinople.

Now Emperor John I Tzimiskes has him trapped behind the walls of Dorostolon. Sixty-five days of sorties, cavalry charges and Greek fire on the river. Only one ruler will hold the Danube.
