Jesus’ Third Words on the cross are “Woman, behold, your son! Son, behold, your mother!” (John 19: 25-27)

Love creates family, and even in His most agonizing moments Jesus welcomes us to a new family with His beloved disciples: one where we can find comfort in His own Blessed Mother. We are drawn together at the Cross—not by blood, but by grace.

As we gaze upon the pierced hands of our Lord, may we also entrust our sorrows to God’s will, and with the help of our Mother Mary, remain intimately close to her Son all our lives.
