Book Launch of Nascent Philippine Studies in the Life and Labor of Jose Felipe Del-Pan | 26 May 2021
nqc2021
In observance of the Year of Filipino Pre-Colonial Ancestors (Proclamation No. 1128, s. 2021), the National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) lead the commemoration of the 200th birth anniversary of Jose Felipe Del-Pan on 26 May 2021. He influenced the generation of Rizal to study Filipino heritage, ancestry, and history through his efforts of reprinting classic cultural and historical sources and instigating the nascent interest to document myths, legends, and other folk beliefs of the Filipinos.
Join us in an online event on May 26, 10am, on the Facebook pages of the NQC, NHCP, DepEd Philippines, Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines, and Instituto Cervantes de Manila. A book on Del-Pan titled Nascent Philippines Studies in the Life and Labor of Jose Felipe Del-Pan, 1821-1891, by NHCP Commissioner Lino Dizon, will be launched on the occasion with reviews from historians Dr. Jaime Veneracion, Dr. Jose Victor Torres, and Dr. Jorge Mojarro. NHCP Chairperson and concurrent NQC Executive Director Rene Escalante will grace the occasion.
This event is in solidarity with the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines.
