Originally sung by then rising Leo Valdez in the fourth Metropop Song Writing Competition of 1981, this song became the theme of the original Filipino hit musical of the same title... and continues to inspire Filipinos... until now.

For me, this is the ultimate song of empowerment written in Filipino by far. Gines Tan's 'Magsimula Ka' is a gift to those who choose to stay stuck in a rut when things don't fall the way they envisioned it... or to those who gave up on their dreams for whatever reason.
