Edna talks about her recovery from Typhoon Melor

Edna Pelayo, a 27-year-old mother of three, lost their house when typhoon Melor (Nona) hit her village San Juan in Laur, Nueva Ecija. Recovering from the typhoon's devastation wasn't a smooth journey for Edna and her family. Her husband heavily relied on agriculture as their source of income but the typhoon damaged their farmland. Edna has received cash assistance from the Consortium of INGOs composed of CARE, Action Against Hunger and Save the Children, funded by the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO).

Armed with determination to support her husband and children's needs, Edna started a buy-and-sell business and is able to buy food and allot money for her children's school allowance. She also planted vegetables at her backyard that she sells for additional income.
